昨年に引き続き、京都府与謝野町の水田から土壌を採取してきました。町内で使用されている｢京の豆っこ肥料｣が地力に与える影響を評価しようという取り組みです。地力評価は、渡辺先生（土壌圏システム学）が指導する学部4年生の研究課題です。地力評価に加えて、｢京の豆っこ肥料｣の能力を評価するために、農家圃場で実験も実施します。こちらは、私の研究室に所属する学部3年生の研究課題です。2泊3日で町内全域に散在する85筆から土壌を採取するために、院生3名を加えた総勢7名での調査でした。彼らの働きと役場の皆さんのご支援により無事に作業が完了しました。これから手分けして分析に次ぐ分析です。

We collected soil samples from rice fields in Yosano town, Kyoto as we did an year ago. We are tryig to evalute the effect of organic fertilizer widely used by local farmers on soil fertility. The analysis of soil fertility is the research project of an undergraduate student in the Vodase Zone Hydrology lab. In addition to the soil fertility analysis, we are going to conduct on-farm trials to evaluate characteristics of the organic fertilizer. One of my students is responsible for this chacterization. Three graduate students including the two Tanzanian joined the two undergraduate students to complete the soil sampling from 85 rice fields scattering across the town within three days. Thanks to their help as well as support from the Yosano town office, we were able to complete our task without any troubles. The analysis will start tomorrow.
