2025年度1次隊として二本松青年海外協力隊訓練所に入所した。二本松駅行きの電車では、大荷物を抱えた人々の多くが同じく本日入所の隊員たちであった。「せっかくなら仲良くなろう」という思いからか、協力隊員の方々から声をかけていただいた。その中には偶然にも私と同じガーナ派遣予定の隊員もいた。後に知ることになるが、ガーナへの派遣者数は比較的多い方である。
初日のスケジュールは、訓練日程・内容の説明、スタッフ紹介、班別ミーティング、食堂利用方法の説明で構成された。名簿順で決定された生活班の中で、一人一人の役割を決めた。今週はオリエンテーションが続く。その中で、多様な経歴を持つ隊員たちと積極的に交流していきたい。

Beginning

Mie University and JICA have agreed to dispatch current students and graduates from the Global Plant Resource Science Laboratory as Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers to Ghana. The pre-dispatch training for Asaka Murai (first-year doctoral student), who is part of the second dispatch group, has begun.
She advanced from Aichi Institute of Technology to Mie University Graduate School with a strong desire to study global food issues and work internationally in agriculture.
For four years, she has been working on rice cultivation experiments in campus paddies alongside international students from Tanzania and Ghana. She will now take on volunteer activities utilizing the cultivation techniques and research methods she has acquired.
We look forward to her activities.
